The much visited temple of Bukit Penulisan in Bali is located 1,745 meters above sea level and attracts many visitors every day to explore the old religious building.

Bukit Penulisan is close to the town of Kintamani and on a road that leads straight to the capital city of Bali, Denpasar. It is also known as Bukit Tunggal and it straddles regions in both northern and southern Bali. There is a figurine of Narecwar that is a combined feature of the God Siva and the Goddess Parwati.

Another temple known as Tegeh Koripan was constructed on the peak hundreds of years ago and is more commonly known as Pura Pucak Penulisan. There is a traditional village that lays claim to the title of the oldest villages in Bali and is called Sukawana. There are many ruins and ancient statues close to the temples and many people pray to the shrines for good health, fertility and safety.

Bali’s international airport is 1 hour, 20 minutes by air from Jakarta, where the country’s main international airport can be found. The airport in Bali is not as big as the airport in Jakarta but serves regional destinations. Penulisan is about 30 minutes from the airport in Denpasar and can be reached by local bemo or taxi.
