The coastline which lies north of the province of Satun in the Andaman Sea is home to the fishing community known as Pak Bara, which is seeing increasing numbers of tourists.
Due to this increase, the infrastructure is improving and the once sleepy town sees new restaurants open frequently, guest houses and hotels flourish and many new faces every week. However, it is still essentially a ferry pick-up point and most people simply stay here overnight if they have an early ferry to catch.
There are many sights to see here which include temples, mosques, historic landmarks and beautiful coastline. The fishing harbor is a great place to visit for photo opportunities while the stunning coastline is the perfect place to relax and soak up the sun.
Getting There & Away
There are daily buses, which leave every hour from Hat Yai, traveling to the pier at Pak Bara. If you are arriving from Satun, it is possible to take a local bus toward Trang, getting off at La-Ngu, from where you can continue by songta__ew to Pak Bara. It is also possible to hire a taxi from Satun. Direct boats leave to and from Ko Lipe every day. Hat Yai has the nearest airport with daily connections to Bangkok, which take about 1 hour.
