Located on the coast of Sablayan in Mindoro Occidental, North Pandan Island is hailed as a destination where doing absolutely nothing is the chief attraction. Indeed, there are few places in the world that lend themselves as perfectly to total relaxation.

North Pandan Island comes with all the beauty of more popular Filipino coastal destinations such as Boracay but none of the crowds and over-development, making it the perfect choice for anyone looking for gorgeous beaches and the opportunity to enjoy them minus the sound of the tourist masses.

Days can be spent catching rays on pristine white sands or swimming and snorkeling in crystal clear waters, while nights promise the chance to gaze at star-filled skies entirely unspoiled by light pollution. As with many of the Philippines‘ coastal locations, scuba diving is also a major draw of the island.

As North Pandan Island is entirely lacking in manmade attractions, its breathtakingly beautiful sandy strips are one of its biggest draws. As well as the chance to lie back in the sun, visitors can also pursue a variety of water sports.

Getting There & Away

Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila is the main international gateway for overseas travelers and from here it’s possible to transfer by bus to the ferry port at Batangas (3 hours). Boats run regularly from Batangas to Abra de Ilog on Mindoro Island (3 hours), from where buses run to Sablayan. The alternative is to fly by seaplane from Manila to Sablayan, then transfer by bus for the remainder of the distance.
