New Jersey Travel Guide

Situated on the east coast of the United States along the Atlantic Ocean, New Jersey is geographically one of the smallest American states. But don’t let its small size deceive you; it has the highest population density and is the second wealthiest state in the country. Often dwarfed by its nearby big brother, New York, New Jersey has much to offer its guests with a wealth of culture and attractions on hand.

Located in the middle of the state, Trenton has been the capital city since 1790 and has little to offer visitors. The town was a major manufacturing center during the industrial era between the late 1800s and early 1900s. In fact, the slogan ‘Trenton Makes, the World Takes’ can still be seen today on the Lower Free Bridge. Two maximum-security prisons are located in Trenton, housing some of the country’s most dangerous criminals. The old Trenton Barracks are perhaps one attraction worth a visit.

In the southeast region of New Jersey sits famous Atlantic City, where visitors will find an array of casinos, restaurants and entertainment outlets. The boardwalk of Atlantic City is one of the world’s longest, stretching about five miles. The boardwalk is filled with restaurants, cafés, shops and stages showing outdoor performances. With some impressive casinos, resorts, shopping centers, live shows and big sporting events such as world boxing titles, Atlantic City is the Las Vegas of the east.

New Jersey is home to over six theme parks with some of the most adrenalin-filled rides available. The famous ‘Six Flags Great Adventure’ group boasts one of the world’s best amusement parks in the Jackson Township of New Jersey. The park is home to one of the world’s tallest, fastest and steepest timber roller coasters, El Toro. Along with an array of other rides and attractions, Six Flags offers a great day of family entertainment.

The impressive Liberty Science Center in Jersey City is an interactive science museum filled with exhibitions, educational resources and the world’s largest IMAX dome theater. An acclaimed artistic dinosaur exhibit is on the ground floor and features amazing life-sized animal sculptures on display. Opened in 1993, the center is New Jersey’s first dedicated science museum and well worth a visit.
