Located mid-coast on the western side of Biliran Island, Naval is a 4th class town and the capital of the province, which shares its name with the island. Naval has a fair amount of tourist allure, including several nice beaches, interesting countryside and a semi-happening town.
The main street of Naval is where the action is. There are many fun shops here as well as a load of cafés and bars. The market area in town can also be fun. The main attraction of Naval, however, is the surroundings. The main beach is really nice, with a long strip of white sand and turquoise waters. For accommodation in Naval, the Biliran Garden Resort is hard to beat.
Just north of Naval is Almeria, a 5th class town which also has some nice beaches, while just across the sea from Almeria is the small Dalutan Island, where there is good snorkeling and swimming.
Getting There & Away
Tacloban City Airport in Leyte Province to the southeast is the gateway to Biliran Island. Ninety-minute flights come in here from Manila and flights also land from Cebu. Naval is a 130km bus or shuttle ride from Tacloban City.
