The Mekong Discovery Trail is a project to create community-based eco-tourism adventures along the length of the Mekong River in Cambodia.
The Mekong Discovery Trail, whose main Mekong River office is in Kratie, offers self-guided and locally guided day-trips and overnight excursions along nearly the entire length of the river.
If you either visit their website or their office you can get handy one-page itineraries for their trips; these explain how you can DIY or hire someone to lead you around. The project is still in its relative incipiency, so its a challenge to connect all the smaller day trips into a comprehensive all-along-the-Mekong adventure…yet.
But its an outstanding attempt to bring tourists to experience life and nature along the Mekong and provide the communities living there with some much needed tourist revenue.
Getting There
The office is located on the River Road, towards the southern end of Kratie town.
