Maripipi Island is a small island just to the north of Biliran Island in the Visayas of the central Philippines. It is a 5th class municipality and comes with nice beaches and friendly locals.

The best thing about Maripipi Island is its remoteness and the divine, desolate beaches. It is not well known on the tourist circuit, a fact which makes it all the more appealing for the discerning traveler.

In the center of the island is a thousand-metre extinct volcano; views from its flanks are exquisite. Most of Maripipi Island is covered in dense jungle and palm trees at the coast, making walking anywhere off the beaten track tough going.

As far as accommodation and facilities go on Maripipi Island, there are a few resorts as well as an attractive village that features neat houses and gardens.

Getting There & Away

Tacloban City on the larger Leyte Island to the southeast of Biliran is the main gateway to Maripipi Island, with flights coming in from Manila in 90 minutes. Buses then run to Naval on Biliran, from where boats go to Maripipi Island - a journey time of around 5 hours altogether.
