Most people have both a fear of and a fascination with snakes, and at this snake farm you can learn more about these slithery creatures that give some people nightmares.
The focus of a visit here is a show featuring some dangerous species such as cobras and pythons, and the antics of their handlers, who even kiss their slimy charges. The show lasts around half an hour, is slickly organized and lots of fun, especially for kids. After the show, you get a chance to have your photo taken with a snake strung round your neck to show how brave you are.
Either before or after the show, you should take a walk around the area behind the stage, where various types of snake are bred in cages, and learn a little about the different types of snake to be found in Thailand.
Getting There
Most people visit the snake farm as part of a tour of the Mae Sa Valley. If traveling by yourself, drive north from Chiang Mai on H107 through Mae Rim, then turn left on to H1096. The farm is about 3.5km along here on the right, almost opposite the X-Centre.
