Lucap and Alaminos are gateways to the Hundred Islands National Park in Boracay, the Philippines. Recent investment in tourist infrastructure has raised the local profile a bit, but island-hopping is still the number one pastime.
Alaminos is the name of the town itself. It has grown rapidly since the mid-1990s and added trade and tourism to a longstanding base of agriculture and fishing industries.
The headlining tourist attraction here is Hundred Islands National Park. There are actually 123 islets dotting the offshore waters. Lucap is the wharf and actual launching point for island excursions. Tricycles carry passengers from Alaminos to Lucap.
This entire area also boasts a thriving marine ecosystem with plenty of coral and mangrove features that are nice for snorkeling and diving. Portions of the reef were depleted in previous decades, and portions have been supplemented with artificial reefs intended to revitalize the underwater life.
Getting There & Away
Lucap and Alaminos are in Pangasinan Province, and the easiest way to get here is via bus or by hire car. The drive takes between 4 and 5 hours from Manila, so a two-day trip from the capital and its international airport is advised.
