Longli is a small ethnic village in eastern Guizhou that is best known for its elaborate terraced fields. It sits in Longsheng County and is just west of Kaili on the G320.

Longli is about two hours by road from Guiyang, the provincial capital, and although close to the beaten path, is right in the mountains several kilometers from the main highway. The village of Longli is pretty, with its traditional Miao architecture, yet it is the terraced fields on the drive here that are the main sight.

These rice terraces are strewn across the hillsides and look fantastic from a distance. They were built several hundred years ago to make full use of the arable land and encompass around 65 square kilometers.

Getting There & Away

Local minibuses and tour buses run to Longli from both Guiyang and Kaili. It is best reached from Kaili along the G320, a journey that takes about 2 hours. Guiyang is 150kms to the west and is connected by the G320 and G210. It has the nearest airport.
