Surrounded by paddy fields, Loboc is a small town in the south of the beautiful island of Bohol, in the central Philippines. It’s best known for the tarsier monkey and for its floating restaurants.
Scenic boat rides along the meandering Loboc River are the main activity in this small town. Huge riverboats ply the pristine river, which is hemmed in by dense jungle in parts and gives a great insight into life in upcountry Philippines. There is also a tarsier center set up here, where they breed and care for the monkeys. The Tarsier Sanctuary in Corella is a lot better, though.
Loboc’s other main natural attraction is the powerful and awe-inspiring Busay Falls just outside Loboc. There’s not much to look at in Loboc town, apart from the lofty Loboc Church bell tower. Views from the tower are great and if you get to catch a Loboc Children’s Choir performance you’ll be in for a treat.
