The pretty island of Leyte is located in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines. Most visitors stay in the capital city of Tacloban, and this is where you will find most of the area’s accommodation and entertainment options.
There are a couple of national parks located toward the center of Leyte which make good daytrip destinations. Other than that, the main form of entertainment here is shopping, and there are a number of small shops to bargain hunt in as well as large air-conditioned shopping malls.
For travelers with time to spare, a great way to reach Leyte is by ferry from Manila; the journey takes 30 hours, with plenty of comfortable places to sleep. Simply lounge onboard and watch as the stunning scenery slowly slips past.
