Situated just three kilometers from Hong Kong Island]], the pretty island of Lamma is famous for its delicious seafood, making this a good place to visit at lunchtime.

There is a small Western hippy community in Yung Shue Wan, which is full of bars, restaurants and cafés. This is a popular area for those who want to chill out and also with Chinese people who want to take a daytrip from Hong Kong Island to try something a little different.

One of the great things about Lamma is that there are plenty of stretches of golden sand here. Especially pretty is Hung Shing Yeh beach, which is a good spot for swimming and simply relaxing on the sand for a while. Another good way to spend a little time is climbing to the top of Mount Stenhouse for spectacular views across Lamma.

With just 6,000 residents, Lamma is pretty peaceful. Although most people visit on a daytrip from Hong Kong Island, there is plenty of accommodation here and this is a good place to stay for those who want to get away from the pollution and noise of the big city.

Getting There & Away
