Koh Por Waterfall is one of the prettiest waterfalls in Koh Kong Province. It is a bit of a pain to get to, being only really accessible from the main provincial town of Koh Kong by boat, although the trip is half the fun.
The waterfall is located within a jungle gorge a few hours by boat north of Koh Kong and is an impressive 100 feet wide with a drop of around 14 feet. It is best visited during the June through October rainy season to see Koh Por Waterfall at its fullest, although for hiking, it is best visited outside this time.
Seeing the falls during the dry season also gives better opportunity for swimming in the various pools, as wet season torrents make this almost impossible. The dry season reveals large boulders that are ideal for walking across, both above and below the falls. You can also walk to other falls in the area.
It is possible to do daytrips to Koh Por Waterfall or do a sleepover.
Getting There
Speedboats and long-tail boats run regularly to Koh Por Waterfall from Krong Koh Kong. It is worth the extra for the speedboat as it makes the trip in about an hour as opposed to 3 hours by long-tail boat. You can connect to Phnom Penh by bus from Krong Koh Kong in 3 hours.
