On the hill leading up to the grave of Pol Pot (and Anlong Veng town) there is a large boulder in the middle of the road from which Khmer Rouge soldiers carved a number of statues.

The statues feature a peasant woman and a pair of Khmer Rouge soldiers, the latter of which were defaced (literally) by government troops after the province slipped from the grip of the murderous regime.

While not a typical tourist attractions, visitors to the memorial will find it unadorned, with a concrete structure marking the site of Pol Pot’s death and subsequent cremation in 1998.

Take a taxi or hire a bicycle from the town of Anlong Veng (25 to 40 minutes). Anlong Veng is accessible from Siem Reap by taxi or bus.
