Kerobokan is a relatively peaceful village area at the southern end of Bali. Originally a quiet farming village located in a tranquil rice-farming area, the community has more recently seen wide-ranging development by the tourism industry.

Kerobokan is close to the centers of Denpasar, Legian and Seminyak. As a result, though Kerobokan offers relative peace and quiet, it still provides good access to shopping, entertainment and other amenities. Kerobokan has also seen many of Bali’s expatriate community establishing homes here away from the busy commercial areas.

Kerobokan is a bit too far from the popular tourist zones for holidaymakers keen on busy nightlife. However, for locals, those seeking something a little quieter or off the beaten track and long-term residents, Kerobokan is an attractive proposition.

It takes just five minutes by car to reach the beaches at Legian or Batu Belig. In fact, all of the island of Bali can easily be accessed from Kerobokan, especially if one has private transportation. Kerobokan is also the second-biggest center for handicrafts on the island of Bali, so there is no shortage of opportunities to invest in souvenirs.

If you’re keen on visiting Kerobokan, you will need to do it soon. Despite the community’s roots as a sleepy farming village, the pace of development risks erasing the character that made it so attractive in the first place. Expensive holiday homes, hotels and luxury resorts are springing up everywhere.

Kerobokan enjoys excellent access to shopping, restaurants and beaches. It is not necessary to pass through Denpasar when going to or from the airport as Ngurah Rai International Airport is only 12kms away, directly south from Kerobokan.
