Kep National Park is a lush, scenic area located just above the coastal town of Kep, Cambodia. The Park encompasses the mountains on peninsular Kep around which the main road connects the various beaches, villages, and farms.
The park has virtually no infrastructure and access is only by four-wheel drive vehicle. There is an 8km mountain trail that circumnavigates the main hill; you can access the trail from the road across from veranda-natural-resort (East of the Dancing Shiva statue) or from the nature path that begins just up the hill from beach-house.
Covering an area of around 50 square kilometers, this national park offers an escape into nature with its dense forests, viewpoints, and hiking trails. The park provides visitors with opportunities for trekking, bird watching, and exploring the jungle. The park also features several scenic lookout points that provide stunning views of the coastline, nearby islands, and surrounding countryside.
The main trail inside Kep National Park is an 8-kilometer circular path that loops around the park, offering a relatively easy hike that can be completed in 2-3 hours. The trail is well-marked, with several side trails branching off to viewpoints and small pagodas. Along the trail, visitors will encounter a variety of wildlife, including monkeys, birds, and small mammals. The dense jungle vegetation provides shade and a refreshing environment, making it a pleasant trek even on warm days.
Getting There
Speak to a guesthouse, such as Kep Lodge, who may provide excursions into the park. You can ride a bicycle or motorbike most of the way into the park during the dry season months when the road is better; access the trail from the road across from veranda-natural-resort (East of the Dancing Shiva statue) or from the nature path that begins just up the hill from beach-house.
