Positioned in Benguet province in the Cordillera mountain range on Luzon Island in the Philippines, Kabayan is a unique city steeped in history and heritage dating back thousands of years.

Long before Spanish colonization, the indigenous people of Kayaban practiced mummification using salt and herbs before placing the embalmed bodies in solid rock tombs. Within Kayaban there are over 2,000 burial caves used for human remains.

The Mummy Caves in Kayaban are a popular tourist attraction and are officially on the Philippine National Cultural Treasures list. Apart from the Mummy Caves there are plenty of outdoors activities to enjoy in Kayaban such as rock climbing, trekking and nature watching.

Getting There & Away

Located only a short trip from Baguio City, Kayaban is easily reached by bus. Getting to Baguio is easy with daily flights leaving from Manila taking approximately 45 minutes. Bus tickets to Kayaban can be bought at most travel agents in Baguio City and leave at different times throughout the day.
