Hoover Travel Guide

The Appalachian Mountains serve as a stunning backdrop to the city of Hoover. The city, with a population of nearly 70,000 people, is one of the largest and newest suburbs of the Birmingham urban area in the state of Alabama. Its incorporation only took place in 1967, despite being a residential community since the 1930s.

The Riverchase Galleria is almost wholly responsible for Hoover’s economic development. The 50,000 square foot complex houses a range of shops, hotels and office space, as well as leading outlets such as Macy’s and Sear’s. The Galleria’s establishment has meant increased tax revenue and an influx of both new residents and businesses, which have contributed largely to the area’s transition into a city.

Region Parks is Hoover’s main stadium, with a capacity for up to 11,000 people. It is here that the Birmingham Barons baseball team plays their home games. Match day always brings a great sense of excitement to the bustling city, with fans and visitors alike flocking in their masses to support their respective teams.
