Ho Coc Beach is a semi-deserted beach in Ba Ria Vung Tau Province just outside Vung Tau. It is located on the main road from Vung Tau and is a nice alternative from the bustle of Vietnam’s main resort.

Ho Coc Beach has lovely golden sands with the obligatory dunes and large trees backing the beach. The lack of development on the beach is definitely one of the main draws for the more discerning type of traveler. However, visiting on weekends during December to March will net you many local holidaymakers.

Nearby is a nature reserve that was set up in the 1970s to protect the rainforest and wildlife here. The preserve covers around 11,000 hectares and although most of the interesting wildlife no longer resides here, there are many monkeys and birds to spot. There are plenty of walking trails in the area and guides are available for hire.

Getting There & Away

There is no direct public transport to Ho Coc Beach, but you can take a public bus to Ap Phuoc Buu and then local transport to the beach. Tour companies in Ho Chi Minh City and Vung Tau also offer bus daytrips to the beach. Ho Chi Minh City Airport serves the south and is around three hours away.
