Hat Rai Leh East is the eastern part of the double, back-to-back Rai Leh Beach in Krabi. The beach here isn’t as nice as Hat Rai Leh West, but there are more facilities.

At low tide Hat Rai Leh East turns into a mud flat, yet accommodation is a bit cheaper than in the west, plus the west is only a stone’s throw away. Hat Rai Leh East’s main attraction is its limestone cliff rock climbing, which is among the best in the world, with hundreds of bolted routes for mid-level and up.

Hat Rai Leh East also comes with more restaurants and bars than Hat Rai Leh West and those near to Diamond Cave have fine views from a lofty position. There are also a few beach bars in Hat Rai Leh East, with nightly live music and fire shows though don’t expect Ao Nang style entertainment. Most digs on Hat Rai Leh East are of the bungalow variety and set back off the beach.

Getting There & Away

Long tail boats serve Hat Rai Leh East from Ao Nang and Krabi Town and boats set down on the eastern side of the beach. Trip times are 15 minutes from Ao Nang and about 30 minutes from Krabi Town. Krabi is a 1-hour, 30-minute flight from Bangkok and transfer times to Krabi Town are about 20 minutes.
