Hai Duong Province Travel Guide

Hai Duong province is endowed with beautiful scenery, featuring numerous lakes and ponds. It is in the middle of a network formed by the Thai Binh, Hong and Luoc rivers. The letchi thieu of Tanh Ha is a special dish, famous in the country, and so are sweet bean cakes (banh dau xanh). The province is also renowned for its pottery, made out of kaolin in Kim Mon district.

Hai Duong city is the capital of the province and its name means ‘ocean’. The city has quickly developed into an urban center and would like to host the new international airport of Hanoi region. There are not many tourist attractions here, but it is a good launching point for trips to the province.

Attractions in Hai Duong province include the Kiep Bac temple, but most of all Con Son mount, which is a blend of historical sites, cultural monuments and stunning scenery. There are many interesting landmarks are to be seen: Hum pagoda (also known as Con Son pagoda), Bach Van hermitage, the ‘fairy chessboard’ and the ‘pearl well’. Popular festivals are held during the year all over the province, especially on Con Son mount.

The province can be reached easily by national roads and is on the Hanoi-Haiphong railway line. It has a wealth of hotels and restaurants to cater to the needs of travelers.
