Garut Travel Guide

Blessed with natural beauty ranging from volcanoes to fragrant pine forests, Garut is a great place to hang out. Beach bunnies will want to hop to the south coast, where there are some beautiful beaches.

Garut was once a prominent hill station during colonial times, when European visitors would flock to the village to retreat from Indonesia’s heat during the scorching summer months. This is still a pretty place to relax for a few days, and the cool climate is perfect for hiking and trekking.

Garut is also a popular place for shopaholics as there are plenty of souvenir and gift shops. However, the view across the region is the main attraction here and many visitors choose to stay in accommodation with large balconies, so that they can make the most of it.

Getting There & Away

Getting to Garut is easy as it is just an hour’s flight from Jakarta, which has its own international airport. Garut can also be reached from Jakarta by bus in 4 hours and buses regular run from many other neighboring towns and cities such as Bandung (2 hours)
