The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park is found in the south of the island on the Bukit Peninsula. The park is set on a dramatic limestone cliff and hill and houses many works of art depicting the local cultures around Bali. The gorgeous surroundings add draw to the park and its exhibitions and captivate all who visit here.

With its location just 25 minutes from downtown Kuta Beach, it is one of the island’s most visited attractions. It offers many performances including local dances and events as well hosting corporate conferences. The centerpiece of the park is the brass and copper statue of the Hindu deity Wisnu who represents the protection of our universe.

At the entrance are two 25-meter limestone pillars, naturally formed over thousands of years. They are adorned with mythical carvings from the Ramayana, which is the grounding and origin of most Balinese art. Food and drink can be had here in one of the local restaurants and art-fanatics as well as historians will enjoy a trip to the park.

The park is centrally located on the peninsula and it is easy to take public transport to the entrance from Kuta Beach. Most visitors tend to opt for a private taxi or travel on organized tours from the nearby towns or resorts. It is also possible to hire a self-drive car and combine the trip with an exploration of this stunning peninsula. The journey from Kuta will take around 20-30 minutes
