This national park is located to the east of Phayao town and covers and area of just over 500 square kilometers.

It’s a mountainous region covered with dense forests and several waterfalls, including Napang Waterfall and Thansawan Waterfall. The latter is not very high but in the rainy season stretches over 100 meters wide and makes an impressive sight.

The highest peak in the park is Doi Phu Nang at 1202 meters, and there are several hiking trails through the forest. Some of the wildlife that you might see if you are lucky are Asiatic black bears, civets and squirrels. Unfortunately there are no bungalows available for lodging, but there are tents available for rent if you’d like to spend a few days here.

Head east from Phayao to Dok Kham Thai, then follow Highway 1251, which leads into the national park. The park headquarters are at Ban Bo Bia in the south of the park.
