This hill located about 10km south of Umphang beside Highway 1090 is well worth visiting for its expansive views of the area. It stands at an elevation of almost 1000 meters, and since the top of the hill is bare, it affords fantastic views of the hills and valleys around.
During the rainy season, the hill is covered with a pinkish wildflower in bloom, which adds to the attraction of the scene. Whichever way you look, your eyes are met with pleasing vistas, and very little sign of human habitation. Since it takes less than an hour to get there and back from Umphang, it’s well worth checking out while in the area.
Getting There
Drive south from Umphang on H1090 for about 10km and look out for signs on the left pointing to the hill. Then take a narrow dirt road for about 700 meters, which leads you almost to the top of Doi Hua Mot. Park up and walk the last few meters up the hill for fantastic views all round.
