Dapa is a port city on the Philippine island of Siargao. It is the final transportation hub for international surfers visiting to brave the Cloud Nine breaker outside of General Luna.

Dapa doesn’t have any tourist appeal of its own, and there is no reason to stick around here once you’ve landed. It is the most accessible city from Surigao City, the provincial capital of Mindanao.

Getting back and forth between Surigao and Dapa is more of an ordeal than it ought to be. Boats travel back and forth on a daily basis, but keep odd hours that are not conducive to tourism. Currently there are only two boats that regularly make the journey. From Dapa, the drive to General Luna takes 30 minutes.

Getting There & Away

To get to Dapa from Manila, there are two options. The most convenient way in is by flying first to Cebu City and then boarding a ferry for Surigao City. From here you catch one of the boats to Dapa. The other way to reach Surigao City from Manila is to fly into Butuan and then connect via bus (2 hours, 30 minutes). These days, there are even a few flights between Surigao’s airstrip and Manila.
