Daet is the capital of the Philippines Camarines Norte Province. It’s found south of Manila in a part of the archipelago that borders the Pacific Ocean where surfing is especially popular.
There are two areas of accommodation in Daet. The city center has a collection of budget and mid-range and hotels, while another 10 to 20 minutes of driving north brings diehard surfers to the beach resorts where life segues from the room, to the beach, to the bar on daily basis.
The surfing conditions are best from November to April, with waves rolling in less consistently outside of this season. Avid surfers will find waves rideable, but not able to compete with the best conditions in Bali or Hawaii. Daet is a great place to learn to surf, with lessons are available all along the coastline.
Getting There & Away
Daet has a small airport, and there are two inbound flights a week from Manila’s international airport (50 minutes). From the airport expect to drive another 20 to 40 minutes to reach your hotel, depending on where your resort is. Coaches from Manila to Daet are also available and require around seven hours driving time.
