This small museum is at the western end of town and has a small collection of artifacts which have been unearthed from the surrounding area. It is worth a look to get an overview of how the ancient city used to be.

Highlights of the museum are ancient carvings from Chiang Saen and Phayao. There are also a few exhibits exploring the effect that ethnic minorities like the Thai Yai, Thai Lu and a few other hill-tribes have had on the region. The collection includes everything from musical instruments to opium pipes.

Walk or take a songthaew from anywhere in Chiang Saen.
