Situated in Yunnan Province, Chengjiang is an area of intense natural beauty famous for its diverse flora and fauna.

Most people visit Chengjiang in order to spend time exploring the town’s natural beauty spots. The area is also home to a large collection of fossils, which were originally discovered around the mighty Maotian Mountain and date back 530 million years ago to the early pre-Cambrian period.

However, there are not many tourist attractions in this area and most visitors to this region of China bypass Chengjiang in favor of one of Yunnan’s vibrant cities. Consequently, accommodation in Chengjiang tends to be on the basic side, although for many this is part of the town’s charm.

Getting There & Away

The best way to get to Chengjiang is by taking a bus from near the international airport at Kunming (50 minutes). There are also buses to Chengjiang from all over Yunnan and long distance buses from large cities such as Beijing. Chengjiang also has a large train station with regular trains arriving from places such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guiyang and Chengdu.
