Located in the eastern part of Guangdong Province, Chaozhou is a pretty city blessed with abundant natural beauty such as the gently flowing Han River.
Chaozhou is known for a special type of opera, which can now be seen all over the world. Of course, this is the perfect place to watch a dramatic performance, which features colorful clown performances and stunning female dancers. Energize at one of Chaozhou’s tea houses before going to watch the opera as performances can last for several hours.
Chaozhou is often dubbed the ‘ceramics capital of China‘, and this is a good place to pick up a souvenir or two. The city’s night markets are particularly vibrant, and this area is also a good place to find a cheap, authentic Chinese meal.
