Champei Waterfall, also known as Laang Ta Thong, is a beautiful natural wonder tucked away in the remote Odar Meanchey Province in northern Cambodia.

The only attraction of note near Samraong is Cam Pey Waterfall, a beautiful waterfall surrounded by dense jungle some 20 miles from Samraong. Less frequented by tourists compared to other Cambodian attractions, Champei offers a tranquil escape into nature, with a cascading waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. The name “Champei” means “frangipani flower” in Khmer, reflecting the peacefulness and beauty of the location. On both sides of the valley enclosing the falls are beautiful flowers including many orchids.

Close to the waterfall is a meditation center, where many monks come to meditate. The waterfall is a nice spot for nature lovers, adventure seekers, and those looking to explore an untouched part of Cambodia.

Just after the rainy season in November or December is best. Visitors will find that the waterfall is at its most impressive during the rainy season (May to October), when the flow is strongest and the vegetation is lush. During the dry season, the waterfall may be smaller, but the area remains a beautiful and peaceful retreat.
