Declared in July 1988, this park has an area of just under 600 square kilometers and is best known for its namesake, Namtok Chae Son. This waterfall has six levels and a pool suitable for swimming at each level.

The park is renowned for its hot springs, scenic waterfalls, and lush forested mountains. It’s an ideal destination for nature lovers, hikers, and those looking to unwind in the therapeutic hot springs.

The park also has a collection of hot springs which are great for soothing aches and pains after a trek. Wildlife is not frequently seen here, but the birdlife is plentiful. The park reaches altitudes of over 2,000m and there are a number of trails. Camping is allowed and on weekends, food is available.

Camping and Accommodation: Chae Son National Park provides camping grounds and bungalows for visitors who wish to stay overnight. Camping equipment can be rented at the park office.

  • Chae Son Hot Springs: The park’s main attraction, these natural hot springs are rich in minerals and maintain a temperature of around 73°C (163°F). Visitors can enjoy soaking in the designated bathing areas or boiling eggs in the hot water.
  • Chae Son Waterfall: A picturesque six-tiered waterfall located near the hot springs, offering refreshing pools and stunning photo opportunities.
  • Mae Peak Waterfall: Another beautiful waterfall within the park, accessible via a scenic hiking trail.
  • Nature Trails: The park offers several well-marked trails for hiking enthusiasts, ranging from easy walks to more challenging treks through the forest.

Chae Son National Park is located about 75 kilometers northeast of Lampang city. Visitors can reach the park by car or local bus. From Lampang, follow Highway 1035 to Chae Hom district, then continue on local roads to the park entrance. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours by car.

From Lampang follow Highway 1035 in the direction of Jae Hom for about 58kms, and at the Ban Pongkob T-junction, turn left. Follow Highway 1287 for a further six kilometers before turning right onto Road 1252; from here it is 11km to the park.
