Caibiran is one of the many small 5th class communities on Biliran Island in the Visayas Islands of the central Philippines. Despite the ravaging of typhoons, Caibiran has bounced back time and again and possesses stunning beaches.

Caibiran’s main appeal to visitors is its out-the-way feel. It is located off the coast, a few kilometers inland, and lies amid lovely lush scenery. There are several falls within a reasonable hike of town, including the lofty Tinago Falls. These falls plummet almost 30m from a high stone ridge into the most inviting pools of anywhere.

Large boulders and dense forest surround the falls and you can even get to them by motorbike. Tinago Falls are not to be confused with the falls of the same name in Iligan City on Mindanao.

Tourist facilities in Caibiran include a few guest houses and quaint hotels along with some restaurants and bars, although there is nothing of real substance to write home about.

Getting There & Away

Caibiran is around 130kms north of Tacloban City, the main gateway to Biliran Island. Tacloban has an airport with flights from Manila and Cebu - 90 minutes and 30 minutes respectively. Transfer time to Caibiran by bus from Tacloban is a few hours via Biliran town.
