Billed as one of Vietnam’s most rugged beaches, Ca Na Beach is known for its white sand and massive boulders. The atmosphere is exceptionally low-key, appealing to tourists who prefer seclusion over amenities.
Local legend holds than an ancient king and queen discovered the beauty of Ca Na Beach centuries ago. They were intrigued with the beaches grace and beauty, and named the site Nang Tien Ca, or ‘Fairy Fish.’
Half of the beach is rocky and picturesque, but there’s an excellent stretch of sand fit for beach activities about half a mile north of the Ca Na fishing village. This is also where you’ll find the only hotels and seafood restaurants. Be advised that Ca Na is a cash-only community, and there are no ATMs, credit-card facilities or money changers in town.
Beyond swimming and walks on the beach, popular activities include hiking in the Truong Son Mountains or chartering a boat to the outlying islets. Hon Lao is the most popular island because of its migratory birds and ancient grotto.
Getting There & Away
Ca Na is far removed from civilization, and the only way to get there is onboard long-haul buses to other places. It’s on Highway 1A, so there’s plenty of through-traffic. Phan Rang, with its one-hour bus service to Ca Na fishing village, is the only city with dedicated transportation links to Ca Na. Cam Ranh Airport in Nha Trang is 155 miles from Phan Rang and offers domestic links.
