Located in the beautiful Agusan Valley around the banks of the Agusan River, Butuan River is a great destination for those who love fresh air, adventure sports and plenty of good food.
Butuan has a number of beautiful beaches where visitors can just lay back and soak up the sun for a while. The crystal clear waters are great for swimming in and water sports such as sailing and scuba diving are popular here. There is plenty to explore, and many people visit Butuan to go hiking.
If you have time to kill, a good way to see the area is by taking a ferry to the port in Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, which takes about 26 hours altogether and offers stunning scenery and the chance to unwind as the scenery slips slowly past.
Getting There & Away
There are regular flights to Butuan from Manila (60 minutes) and Cebu (45 minutes). There is a bus service linking Butuan with the other towns and cities in the area, but it is very slow.
