Situated in Eastern Samar, Borongan is a town that is full of natural beauty rather than tourist amenities and boasts unique black sand beaches.

It is a large town that has only recently been stripped of its city status but has kept its ranking as the capital of Eastern Samar. Its port is a national port as it has links that run between many of the Philippines‘ larger cities. Surfing is a popular pastime in Borongan thanks to the white horses that regularly graze the shorelines.

The forests in Borongan are dense and untouched and are often used by the locals as a place of leisure. There are many fine sandy beaches made up from exotic looking black sand as well as pure white sandy beaches that host some of the clearest waters in the country. Baybay Boulevard is a surfer’s paradise and tourists and locals all enjoy chilling out on Cabong Beach.

The nearest international airport is in Manila and there are a few flights a week from the capital city to Borongan that take 1 hour, 15 minutes. Buses run from Manila to Borongan and take a total journey tine of 29 hours. Tacloban to Borongan by bus takes 4 hours.
