The city of Billings is the largest city in Montana and is in close proximity to Yellowstone National Park and Pompey’s Pillar. One of the most popular attractions as well as one of the wackiest is the area where the famous Battle of the Little Bighorn was fought. Billings has a dramatic setting as it is surrounded by sandstone cliffs and rugged terrain. However, the town has replaced old town taverns and tumble weeds with chic galleries, trendy bars and restaurants.
Billings is an old town that definitely embraces its cowboy heritage. There are countless stores and shops selling immense collections of cowboy paraphernalia. You will not have any problems finding that 10-gallon Stetson hat that will complete your J R Ewing ensemble. Although a laid-back city, Billings boasts a colorful nightlife. In the downtown area you can find scores of country and western bars, but you can also find lively jazz venues, blues bars and even a hip-hop club or two.
Enthusiastic sports fans will have plenty of opportunities to catch some fantastic sporting events. Billings has four popular semi-pro sports teams including baseball, hockey, basketball and American football. Billings wouldn’t be Billings if it didn’t offer fans a few cowboy sports such as professional rodeos and pow- wows.
