As travelers head up the coast and away from Kuta Beach and Seminyak; the tall buildings and bustling atmospheres drift off into the distance and they are replaced by largely untouched coastlines. Only 10-15 miles from Kuta is the gorgeous bay and village of Berewa; a traditional Balinese village.

Around the village and hidden in the vegetation, it is not always easy to make out the collection of privately owned villas. Due to their submersion in lush greenery, these villas do not spoil the natural beauty this area has to offer. The coast is a mixture of wide beaches and rocks that show how awesome the sea can be in this part of the world.

Fronting the beach are a few high-end hotels, all with their own ocean view swimming pools as they commonly advise their guests not to brave the waters. The currents up here are strong and should only be investigated by very confident swimmers and hardcore surfers. There are usually far more people enjoying the surf than there are chilling out on the sandy beach as the main draw of Berewa is its surfing opportunities.

The easiest way to travel here from Kuta would be to hire a taxi, a journey that takes about 25 minutes. The roads can be chaotic and they are not for the fainthearted. It is possible to travel via public transport but not directly into the village and a walk or taxi is the only option to complete the journey. Another idea is to hire a car or motorbike and make the journey up the coast under your own steam
