Situated on the west coast of Luzon in the Philippines, Bauang is a beautiful municipality in La Union Province. First settled in 1590 by the Spanish, Bauang officially became one of the province’s 12 towns in 1850.
Bauang is easy to travel about with a network of buses and jeepneys available traveling to the nearby towns of Caba, Naguilian and San Fernando City. The McArthur Highway passes through Bauang en route to Naguilian from Baguio City in the mountains.
The main attraction of Bauang is the scenic coastline and beautiful beaches, which enjoy fantastic sunsets over the South China Sea. There are numerous tourist attractions close by including churches, watchtowers and war monuments.
Getting There & Away
Travelling to Bauang is easy with the nearby San Fernando International Airport located just 15 minutes’ drive from the city center. Flights from Manila airport arrive daily and take approximately 50 minutes flying time. There are several bus services traveling from Manila to Bauang, taking around five hours. The road from Manila travels along the coastline and has breathtaking views.
