Situated in the far southeast of Guizhou Province in Southern China, Basha is a small Miao ethnic village with a history dating back over 2,000 years to the Qin Dynasty.
The surrounding area of Basha is mountainous with thick and green foliage. In the village, the houses are built on stilts using local stone and wood. Basha is a unique destination that is relatively untouched by western modernization, still practicing centuries-old cultural customs and beliefs.
The main attraction of Basha is the traditional and culturally-rich village, which has retained its ancient past. There are guided tour groups that take you through the town, showing the important buildings as well as the local community and the daily way of life. Accommodation is not available in the village itself but just outside, within a few miles.
Travel to Basha- getting there
Basha is located close to the city of Congjiang, which has buses connecting with other nearby towns including Kaili and Liping, where there is an airport with regular flights to other Chinese cities. Flights from Beijing typically take around 1 hour. Buses are also available to Beijing, although they take much longer.
