The fishing port of Ban Sala Dan is locatedon the northern tip of Ko Lanta Yai]]. This is the island’s main town and a good place to do some shopping.
There are a number of ATM machines here so stock up on cash before heading off to one of the beach areas. There is also a number of decent restaurants located in Ban Sala Dan and you can dine on fresh fish while watching fishermen hard at work.
Although not the most beautiful or interesting place on Koh Lanta Yai, Ban Sala Dan is a good place to recover from a long journey, find transport to the beach and perhaps arrange a diving or snorkeling tour for the next day.
Getting There & Away
The nearest airport to Ban Sala Dan is at Krabi, which is a 1-hour, 20-minute flight from Bangkok. Take a taxi from the airport to Klong Chi Lard Pier (20 minutes), from where you can take a ferry across to Koh Lanta (2 hours). The ferry goes directly to Ban Sala Dan.
