Baliangao Wetland Park is a beautiful eco-friendly area close to the town of Dapitan in the Zamboanga Peninsular. It is a popular spot for those into wetlands, fish, and diving.

The park is located in Surigao Del Sur Province, not far from Dapitan, and lies among numerous barangay villages where most people fish for a living. Baliangao Wetland Park itself is on the fringe of the lovely Danao Bay marine sanctuary and features over a dozen species of mangrove trees and numerous species of fish.

One of the best parts of a visit to Baliangao Wetland Park is the entrance, where visitors get to walk through a mangrove forest via a coconut walkway. Feeding time is the best time to be here, an hour before high tide. There is accommodation in Baliangao Wetland Park in four cottages and some camp grounds.

Those who visit Baliangao Wetland Park generally come in via Dipolog which itself is home to several attractions including many parks and landmarks.

Getting There & Away

Baliangao Wetland Park is best accessed through Dipolog Airport, which is located to the west of the sanctuary also in northern Zamboanga Peninsular. Flights arrive into Dipolog daily from Manila, taking about 90 minutes, and transfers to the reserve take about an hour or more. An alternative for those in Cebu City is to take a high-speed ferry to Dapitan City.
