Balanga is in Central Luzon and is the capital city of Bataan. It is mainly residential but has a few shopping malls and restaurants to try out. It is, however, prone to flooding during the rainy season.
To the north of Balanga is Abucay, Pilar is to the south, the pretty Manila Bay to the east and the towering mountains of Bagac and Morong border the west. The River Talisay runs from the Mariveles mountain range and separates the southern region of Balanga from neighboring Pilar, and all of these towns and cities are good for exploring the local countryside.
The resources in Balanga are mainly agricultural, with a thriving production line of corn, sugarcane, fruits, vegetables and a wide variety of fish and shelled seafood. There are two main market areas that are good for picking up local souvenirs and there is a wide variety of shops and malls to shop in.
Getting There & Away
The nearest international airport is in Manila, which is an 80-mile journey away that takes 3 to 4 hours. From Manila, there are two major roads to choose from to get to Balanga, National Road and Roman Superhighway. You can also access Balanga from Manila by boat through the Orion Port ferry service and a short drive from Orion to Balanga.
