A large touristy province, Ba Ria Vung Tau boasts a beautiful, long seashore with excellent beaches and lakes. Vung Tau, the capital city, is a mecca for windsurfers, kite-surfers and seafood lovers.
A number of beaches are scattered around the province with some of the most notable being: Thuy Van, Dau and Chi Linh in Vung Tau, Ho Tram and Ho Coc in Xuyen Moc, and Long Hai in Long Dien. Con Dao Island, a short ferry ride from the provincial capital, has a national park with various fauna and flora while hikers should check out Thanh Gia Mountain or relax at Binh Chau hot spring.
Festivals are aplenty in the province, such as Nghinh Ong Festival (celebrating whales) and Dinh Co Festival. Traveling to Vung Tau province is easy. By road, Vung Tau is about 129kms (80 miles) from Ho Chi Minh City while there are many buses and hydrofoils that leave from major cities to Ba Ria Vung Tau.
