One of the quieter bays on Ko Phi Phi Don, Ao Lo Dalam features a soft sandy beach and clear waters. Despite its proximity to lively Ton Sai Village, this bay has dodged much of the island’s recent development.
As the Phi Phi archipelago grows in popularity, the beaches are becoming increasingly crowded. This is a turnoff for those in search of the secluded paradise they’ve read about in the guide books. With that in mind, Ao Lo Dalam is an ideal destination as it’s less crowded and has fewer onsite bungalows than Phi Phi’s other beaches.
And even if you come during peak season, you’ll still enjoy moments of privacy and seclusion. Like many of the bays on Ko Phi Phi, Ao Lo Dalam is flanked by majestic limestone cliffs that shield it from the rest of the island. Be sure to bring your camera on longboat tours of the bay. The view of the cliffs from the sea is fit for a postcard.
Getting There & Away
From Ao Lo Dalam it takes five minutes to connect to Ton Sai Bay, where ferries traveling to and from the mainland dock. Most ferries connect to Phuket or Krabi, a journey that takes 2 to 3 hours. Both of these cities have airports (Phuket’s is larger) that offer quick and frequent connections to Bangkok (1 hour).
