Ao Kantiang is the epitome of a tropical paradise. The beautiful beach is set just over one mile south of Khlong Hin and is a remote and peaceful area on the Thai island of Koh Lanta Yai.
The cove is popular with local fisherman and the golden stretch of sand has water that is great for swimming. Snorkeling is also fun at the northern end of the bay, where there is nice collection of coral and fish.
The accommodation is simple, with a scattering of bungalows and one stylish hotel. The beach is backed by jungle-clad hillsides, which are made up from entwined shrubs and vines that are great for exploring on foot. The cove itself is fairly sheltered, which makes the area good for swimming, even in the rainy season.
There are a handful of beach-side restaurants and bars that sit in a tranquil location and are wonderful in the sunshine or under the starry night sky. There is a road that runs through the village and a nice selection of basic necessities like internet access, travel agents offering trips and tours, onward transport and motorbike rentals, with a clinic just minutes from the village center.
Getting There & Away
Krabi is only 15 minutes from the ferry port, which has a regular service running to and from Koh Lanta. It also has an airport, as does nearby Trang, and Route 4 will take you directly to the harbor. Passenger ferries run between Phi Phi/Phuket, Krabi/Ko Jum and Ao Nang/Railay in the high season, but be aware that only car ferries run during the height of the monsoon season.
