Anchang is a small town in Zhejiang Province, Eastern China. It is a charming sleepy town which dates back thousands of years and has many historic buildings and temples to enjoy.
It is a long-established town which is very traditional and as such, appeals to a number of tourists. Despite its small size, there are a number of attractions which apart from temples and ancient buildings include a beautiful park, traditional Chinese herbalists, old bridges, a beautiful riverfront area and many street markets.
Accommodation abounds, with everything from traditional old guest houses to modern hotels and apartments. There is something to suit everyone, regardless of budget and most are within walking distance from the main attractions. For evening entertainment, there are a number of restaurants and a few bars to keep visitors entertained although for a livelier night scene, most people head into nearby Shaoxing.
Getting There & Away
The best way to reach Anchang is to fly to nearby Hangzhou and take a bus to the town. Hangzhou International Airport serves a range of domestic and international destinations. However, most people who are arriving from abroad arrive in Beijing before taking a domestic flight to Hangzhou in 2 hours. Once you are at the airport in Hangzhou, buses leave regularly and take approximately 1 hour.
