Amnat Charoen Province Travel Guide

Established more than 200 years ago, the small, serene region of Amnat Charoen is well known for its temples and important Buddha images.

Once a district of the Thai province of Ubon Ratchathani, Amnat Charoen became a province itself in 1993 and now claims six districts and one sub-district of its own. Located in the lower portion of the northeastern region of Issan, it sits in tranquility along the Mekong River, nestled between Yasothon and Mukdahan.

Long appreciated for its peaceful and picturesque landscapes, Amnat Charoen claims several attractions of interest. Among the most popular, Huai Pla Daek Reservoir is a beautiful, quiet area less than two miles from town with bungalows and shore-side restaurants.
