Almeria is a small fifth class town in Biliran Province of the Visayas, in central Philippines. The town lies in the north of the island and is the gateway to the small island of Dalutan.
Almeria has many nice beaches that are pretty empty and ideal for getting away from it all. They are palm-lined and have little in the way of noisy mega resorts and water sports action. The snorkeling in Almeria is particularly good, with an abundance of marine life to check out near to the shore. For better snorkeling, hire a boat and head off to Dalutan Island, a few kilometers offshore.
There are several well-equipped resorts in the Almeria region, including Agta Beach Resort. It has nice rooms and facilities and sits on a white sandy beach with views of Dalutan.
Getting There & Away
Biliran, and Almeria, are best accessed from Tacloban City on the northeast of Leyte Island to the southeast. Flights come in here from all over the Philippines, with Manila around 90 minutes away by air. Almeria is around 3 hours from Tacloban Airport by bus, via Naval.
